Gliders Go Home

Writer's picture: karenkaren

For the past two weeks, I have been a bit AWOL. This has been due to family issues. Which means I needed to go home. More importantly, it means the sugar gliders had to come home with me.

While being home is typically pretty relaxing, this time was a bit nerve-wracking. Mushu and Wasabi have yet to be in an environment around dogs.Even more, I have a pitbull and a hunter of a shih tzu. I was nervous both would eat the gliders.

At first, I tried to introduce the gliders to my home by taking them to the shower with me and exploring the scents while I showered. Wasabi absolutely loved it. She was running and jumping all over my bathroom.

Mushi on the other hand, was a wreck. He held so hard onto me that I ended up with small marks on my stomach from it. He did not want to be apart for me for more than a few seconds. Mushi is definitely not the traveling type.

Luckily, my sister and dad were excited to meet the little guys and let them play in my parents room. Mushu became more comfortable, but was still nervous to be left alone (without me). It wasn't until I brought some worms out that he became less anxious.

Overall, I don't think this is the place for them. While they will have to adjust to my new place once I graduate, it'll be a lot easier because it'll have a lot less dogs.

(Here's a fun picture of Mushu being babied by my sister)
