As the semester is coming to an end, my stay in Peoria almost up. This means it's time to move back to Chicago. More importantly, to move into my first adult apartment! While it sounds very exciting this means a lot for the gliders. They tend to be a little reserved when it comes to change. Well, to be blunt, they hate it. Mushu more than Wasabi.
As we get into the new apartment it's going to be important to not stress them out too much with the new environment (which includes a 2 year-old dog). I won't be able to play with them for a few days and make sure they are surrounded by familiar scent. Also this means they will have to get used to my new roommate and her living habits. I say this because Wasabi loves to get attention by barking until she gets some. Something for sure she'll want from my roomate (she doesn't want you to play with her but rather just watch her in her cage while she sits on her warm rock).
For me, this means I have to take apart this 5ft cage. This cage took me about three hours to build (alone). Now I have to get pliers and take it apart, move it 180 miles away and put it back together. Now, a lot of people have asked me why can't I just move the whole cage but together (I complain about this a lot). It's because I built it the wrong way. It's actually inside out. Also it leans to the right. So for the better of the gliders, this might be the only time I have where I am forced to take it apart.
Ultimately, change is hard for everyone. Once I am fully moved into my apartment which will be by May 1st. I will update everyone on how the gliders are handling the change and how many times Mushu pees on me from being so scared.
Here is a fun, quick, video of me Mushu and Wasabi vibing at 1 am.
Yes, we are all almost to that stage of so much change which is so hard! I couldn't imagine it with the added on stress of the emotional well being of your animal. I sincerely hope you and your animals thrive with the move and that you are able to flawlessly put together and take apart the cage lol.
Hi! This is my first time reading your blog and I never heard about this animal before! There are sooooo cute and I hope the move goes well and they aren't too stressed. 😁 I know it was a lot for my kitten moving back and forth when I was in Peoria. - Emma Gamero
